This program prepares students to enter the English-language journalism field with online, print or broadcast media. The program looks at news locally and abroad from an international perspective, and internships and student-run media give students the opportunity to put skills into practice.
About Internation Journalism
International Journalism students begin their major studies in year two. The programme prepares students for professional jobs in the English media with a backbone of four writing courses as well as broadcast and online production classes. Four laboratory courses in which students produce their own English–language news publication as reporters and editors provide students the opportunity to put newsgathering, reporting and editing skills into practice.Students will also undertake four conceptual courses, including Media Law and Ethics and Communication Theory, which stress the theoretical aspects of journalism and its practice. In the last semester, students complete an Honours Project as either a professional project or a research thesis. All IJ classes are taken in English and Chinese-language is not required.
